expert advice needed about my numbers matching automatic 727 torque flyle trans.

Hello my fellow mopar maniacs. i am having a tough time deciding on what to do with my transmission.its been giving me grief ever since i bought it. I'm looking to put it back on the road this summer and i'm having issues with it.
Now to get to business. the problems that i am experiencing are as follows; i noticed when i'm in first gear and cruising about mid range and let my foot off the gas, then try to get going again it needs to wind up before it catches and continues on in first gear. I'm guessing the torque converter is shot.if that is the problem i would like to replace it w/ an aftermarket tci or hughes or b&m .the only problem is with that is there are specific applications for them w/ externally mounted weights. there is so many varieties of these and i wanna get the properly weighted torque converter for the trans. i only wanna do this once if you can catch my drift.I really could u some input and more knowledge on this subject, also some recommendations to if ya can.

the other issue i'm having is recently i'm getting a really bad whinning sound coming from the trans and it started out when it just got up to temp but now its doing it constantly and got progressively louder. i think i might have overheated the trans. :( or is my front pump bad? the trans shifts like it supposed to that's the crazy part about it.
any input on these two subject would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.Cause as of right now i am a fish outta water."literally" Thank you very much to everyone that replies ahead of time.
