i have a 67 vailant that had a slant 6 in and i am putting a 318 in it with the stock slant 6 k member with swap mounts. the mounts line up good and everything just the driver side header wont fit. i asked around and people said i have to put the header in between the steering rack arms. i did do that but still cant get the headers bolted to the head. its just to tight(that's what she said by the way) any help.? the headers are long tubes(not sure the brand) has power steering. do i have to have both headers in the car before i drop the engine in? i still have the starting on because i dont think i can put it back on after the engines in. thats all i have to tell you i think. im only 18 and this is my frist swap so i dont know what the hell i am doing lol thanks

a few pics would help i think in seeing where the problem is.

it also depends on what brand and what partnumber they are how they fit, most of the less expensive headers have the steering centerlink going thru the driverside header

some headers where never designed for cars with powersteering.

its also most of the time easier to put the headers in before instaling the engine, just did that with a set of TTI 1 7/8" primary headers on a car with powersteering. but you will in most cases need to uninstal the starter and bolt it back in before the headers and centerlink are bolted on again unless you put the headers in place before lowering the engine into place.
