Hello Everyone:thumblef:. Been reading threads here for a while and decided I'd throw out hello. I am in the process of getting my first A-body (73 Duster). I'm sure that I'll have a bunch of oddball questions for you guys. The Duster will be getting a magnum based small block, a T56, and a narrowed 8-3/4. Should be a fun project, when I finally bring it home. I also have another project that is very slow moving. Its a 31 Ford Model A coupe. I have a 331 hemi, 6-71, 833, and 8-3/4 for that one. Don't know if any of you are into that or not.

Probably more people on www.moparts.com for the early Hemi. The Duster project sounds ambitious and will keep you occupied. Any time one deviates from the factory design it involves custom engineering and lots of time making special brackets and much figuring to make things fit.

Welcome you're in the right place for A bodies.

Welcome to FABO from SoCal. You're going to have fun here. Post up some pics of both of your projects.

As soon as I get the Duster home I will for sure get some pics up here. The hot rod is in a bunch of pieces right now, and probably will be for quite a while. I'll see if I can snap some pics of it

blowers are good. any pictures of the model a? or better yet the blown 331. here is my slant six.

And here's my Coupe project, this one will take quite a while. But I try and collect more parts for it. Saving for a 32 Frame right now. I have quite a bit of parts for it, just got em socked away. I am trying to build it like it came straight from the late 50s/early 60s. Gonna run chromed steelies and cheater slicks. Should be great when its done:

I was pleasantly suprised with how clean the Duster is. Considering the price it was a steal!

Your Duster looks solid, with no rust-thrus. Even the floor pans look like some simple wire brush and paint jobs (POR15, Rust Destroyer etc). A few ripples on the lower qtr panels, but probably dents instead of Bondo jobs (magnet is the judge). Check the Canadian and European posts to see amazing metal reconstruction people have done to salvage rust buckets. None of that here. Yours is "good rust" - a little surface rust to scare away buyers and get a good price.

NorCal cars tend to be good unless right at the beach and you are on the dry side of the Bay. I am in Sacramento, but as I dug into my 65 Dart, it appears to have been a Reno car, which is the worst combination - high altitude sun and snow. Still, just a few rust thrus in the floorboards and wheel wells to fix.

Welcome aboard, somewhat local guy!! :)

I have '67 Valiant coupe I'm keeping as a slant six daily driver, a '31 Ford roadster I just took on a roadtrip to Santa Maria (see the whole crazy trip on my webpage!!), and I'm just starting to build a '31 Coupe on '32 rails with a 440, 727, and 3.91 suregrip. It'll be a 1962-1964 period style build.

I love building hot rods and Mopars, you should come hang out out here sometime!

Thanks. Yeah I got lucky with the Duster. Its a nice solid foundation. Didn't appear to be any bondo, just dents. Only spot of rust through is around the wheel lip on the drivers side quarter.
