I have found that people actually treat their Toyota or Honda better that is why the longevity. I worked at a Honda dealer as a mechanic for 5 years and can tell you that the cars that people always brought in and took care of lasted much longer than the ones that people only brought in when something happened. This was few and far between but I actually had to replace a motor in a Honda at 30,000 miles. Not because of poor quality but because of lack of oil changes. Customer care is the single biggest thing that effects the longevity of a vehicle, this more times than not gets blamed for poor vehicle quality. I have seen it many times.
