OK. I have reviewed thread after thread about Doug's headers and whether they will fit with a 727 transmission. I have a 67 Dart GT conv. with a nearly stock 360 backed by a 727. Most say they will fit...others (including the Doug's Headers own Catalog) state that their headers will not fit a Dodge Dart with a 727 tranny.

Any out there that have the Dougs on a Dart w/727??? Any others? Curious what type of modification it would require to get them installed. Or else, would TTI be a better fit?

Thanks!

Will fit no problem! The only time you'll have a problem is if you have a 4 speed, that's it. Also I strongly suggest you use a mini starter, you don't have to but if you ever have to change the starter, you'll wish like hell you used a mini starter.
The neatest difference between Doug's and TTi is that TTi is about 200 bucks more and are a step header going from 1 5/8 to 1 3/4. You won't see any real jump in power useless you motor is pushing a lot of power.

hold on, sorry to hijack. but dougs will fit a 727 but why not a 4 speed? id this for all year darts/scamps 67-76??????????????????

They fit both 727 and 4 speeds

On the 4 speeds you'll likely have to cut the down leg from the z bar and move it towards the frame rail a bit. It's a tight fit. nothing else was an issue with any of the cars I have. tti was the same, z bar issues.

so, on my 71 scamp 4 speed, i will have to modify the z-bar. anyone have pics on the mod?

You want one that you don't have to do anything... the cheap hooker copies, flowtech, summit, etc., fit without having to do anything to the linkage. They have their own warts though.

I'll take the fit of Dougs or tti and having to do some z bar mods.

So no one makes a great fit header without making Zbar modifications? So what modifications are needed with Dougs or TTI's?

Thanks all...I just find it interesting that Doug's own catalog states it will not fit A-Bodies (67-?) with a 727 tranny. They must think there is some small mod that must be done to install their headers.

THERE ISN'T A MOD THAT'S REQUIRED!

They screwed up the catalog.... I guess the many people that installed them without modding anything must be wrong.

Look at Keith9291 post. His car has a Sb/727 and Dougs on it. No fitment issues.

Another is the knuckleheads that did the catalog say they don't fit 73-76 at least the last one I saw.... yeah that's wrong too...

If tti fit, dougs better fit, because dougs is where tti got the collector location and basic tube routing.

Dougs does a horrible job advertising this product to mopar people.

I had Dougs headers on a 65 Valiant with a 360. They were literally the easiest set of headers I have ever installed on anything, hands down. They all but fell into place and I mean it. If they'll fit the early cars, I have no doubt they'll fit the later ones. I had P/S, too and they fit around it with no problem.

Why would you want to get a set of non coated headers?

Apparently Dougs fit the best, and these are the only ones I can find to fit an A-Body. Correct me if there are different sizes.

Those 453's fit 67-76 A body Small Block cars.

If that's what you have then they should work.

tti also fit but a way more $$$$

There are less expensive places to buy Dougs from than summit.

just bought a set from Summit, ordered late Wed and were here FRi. Looked on ebay and there was a buy it now for 486 plus shipping with a total for $502. Summit matched that and sold me a full exhaust, 2 1/2 in mandrel bent out the back with mufflers for $209. Headers are ceramic D453 without the R. Total to my door for whole exhaust $708. In my opinion can't beat Summit, Joe

:toothy10:Cracked, can I borrow 425 to give it a shot and see what happens?:toothy10:

how about dougs with eldebrock alum heads??? I am having issues....

the bold text is flat out wrong. collectorlocation may be similar but there is big diferences on the rest of the routing.

BASIC....

Nevermind.

I won't be responding to anything about this with you again for a very good reason.
