Plug Gap w/MSD ?

i run them at .040 - 042 in my 360.. an older racer that i respect told me that all anything over that really does is beat up the coil.. i had them at .050 and it ran good but seems to run smoother at .042. the fastest the car has ever been was with them gapped at .042
