Fel-Pro Head Gaskets = Crap?

Cometic recommends 50Ra as the roughest. Edelbrock heads are right usually smewhere between 40 and 50. If I am using MLS gaskets, I will have the new heads milled to make sure it's smoother. Most modern auto makers want finishes of 30-50 for iron block/aluminum head combos. And the smoother tha better. I'm pretty sure that's why most Cometic installs leak for the first few heat cycles. If yours did or does, the finish is either boarderline, or not smooth enough. Felpro Permatorque will generally work from 50-110Ra...lol. The rep I spoke to said again, smoother the better, but that's what they were designed for. The new shop has a profilometer :D
