New scoop!

I saw a scoop like that at Mopars at the Battleship, almost bought it. Not sure if it is the same one you looked at and bought. I like that style, don't think they ever came on a dart but I wanted it for mine.

Yes they did come on Darts, Demons and Dusters as an option.

Here is a whole thread on them ....

Missed that, sorry. Those are probably the same ones sold by PG classics and BEA parts.

Ive never used them but I havent heard anything bad. AAR fiberglass makes a nice one also.

Is that the VFN scoop? Sure looks nice on your car! Did the studs line up with the holes in the under structure of the hood?
I ordered the scoop out of California... There were no studs that came with it, only bolts. But using the info from the link on the scoops I measured and drilled the holes where they needed to be, was a pain in the @$$. After drilling all of the holes the bolts did line up with the structural pieces on the underside of the hood. It turned out really good. I promised myself I wouldn't cut the fresh air holes until after the engine was rebuilt and needing all the fresh air I could feed it.. Well the engine is done and I need to cut the holes out, I will probably use "Year One's" gaskets they (rubber doughnuts) they sell. The biggest issue I had was drilling thru that perfectly good hood..LOL! After the first or second hole there ain't no turn'in back.. After the scoop was on, that's when I went ahead and put a big hole in the hood for the Hood Mounted Tach, something I know for a fact that was avaiable as an option from Plymouth, for Dusters & Valiants. The brochure listed it as "giving you that european flair".. So now I'm officially "flared"? LMAO.......

Thanks for the info! Your installation really turned out looking nice! Do you know who made your scoop?
Thanks!!

On the road currently, will be back at the home-20 later on in the week.. When I get back I'll look at the reciept.... I got it last year can't remember the name of the company. Give ya a holler back.. Has anyone else had to drill their own holes and use bolts? Or does everyone just get another hood thats prepped for the scoop already.. ?

Well I bought a dual snorkle scoop at the mopars at the battleship. Here's a rough pic of it mounted on my steel hood before paint. Its a crappy cell phone pic and makes the car look pink but its all I have.

ENJOY

Looks great! That is my favorite style scoop.

I had thoughts of trying to add one of these to my 72 Barracuda's flat hood (yes I know it wouldnt be correct)......but not sure it would look right.

I got it off of "screw me bay" (ebay).. I was new to this sight and didn't realize all of the pieces and parts a person could find if your patient enough to ask and just watch.. Lookin back I did pay too much for it but, the guys I ordered it from actually screwed up the order and it was delayed for 2 weeks. I was in contact with them the whole time thru e-mail. They actually waived the shipping charges because it was their problem/fault.. It wasnt alot of money but every bit helps. The scoop was of good quality, and they make them to order. They did't send the studs only 1/4-20 bolts. No matter what anyone says you still will have to fit the scoop to the hood for a duster. You gotta remember these scoops were originally and used mostly on Darts and the hood seam in the middle is alittle more pronounced. You can go to ebay and look them up, if you want to check them out.. Search for "American Carbonfiber & Fiberglass" go to their store and look..

Also if you are putting the scoop on a duster, don't try and put it in the same location as the factory did on the darts, sports and demons. It will look too far forward on a duster if you do that. Somewhere on this site someone posted the correct measurement from the back edge of the hood for a duster (i did a quick search but didn't find it). I bought one for my 74 duster, just haven't mounted it yet.
