Yep, another soothing, relaxing day in the garage. I pulled the intake manifold and replaced the gaskets that I screwed up installing. I also re-adjusted the valves and promptly stripped an adjuster. I patched it together for now but I might order a set of adjusters (unless someone has a spare????) Then I notice that my valve cover bolts are too long so I replace them. Then I fire it up and it idles, but it still acts goofy.... Then it backfired.

We had a moment of silence for my power valve that most definitely died this afternoon. I had my doubts, but I know for sure it's toast. I had a nice, bright orange fireball pop out of the center car this evening. Nice...... Even though it has a somewhat "normal" idle, if it's revved up it take's a while for the idle to stabilize, then sometimes it's OK (800-950 RPM) other times it wants to stall :silent:

Tomorrow morning we buy a 3.5" power valve, float bowl gasket, and a bottle of Jack Daniels....... :thumrigh:

BTW: Did mention I installed that nice, shiny new throttle bracket I recieved from Craig? Did I also mention that my throttle cable is too long?!?!?!

Bracket good; cable no good :x

It never ends..... Just ONCE I'd like to go into the garage, finish what I had planned on doing, and ending the day smiling driving that #$%^%$# car.

Yep I know all about 6 paks, I have had many. Both big and small block, when you finally get em working the work good. But they are a major pain in the a$$. They look awesome, but they never want to idle the same twice. I have put up with enough carb fires and all that BS. Just give me a good old Holley 3310 single 4 bbl. any day . fastback 383.

I'm starting to go that way too..... A nice air gap with a Demon carb, sell the 6 pack, and with the left over money I could pay for my therapist

Hey fastback, I know what ya mean, its as if these cars have a will of their own and refuse to be agreeable. I had probs today too. Got my Milodon Pan today and went to put it on and the oilpump housing hits the pan and won't let it seat against the block. Took it off and ground clearance so now the pan seats against rail but the bolt holes are all 1/8 -1/4 inch out of alignment. Seems now the back of the pan hits my block plate, so now must remove 1/4 inch off the back of the pan by the seal. Only thing left is for the pickup tube to rub against a baffle or something!!! When you go to get your Jack , grab a bottle of Wild Turkey for me too!!!

:D Yes the EBL will make it all better. Hey Don, is that ET and speed a little better than last year? Must be the new paint job.

Count on that too.... My pick up hit my windage tray and it had to be notched. The rear of the pan rails WILL hit the block plate for a scattershield, and a bottle of Jack WILL be required.

Bong optional...... :drunken:

Yeah, this $#@#$%^ car of mine. You parents with a problem child can relate I'm sure..... I want to see this get straightened out, NOT sent off for punishment.

The good news is that I've been able to stash away enough to pay for all the neccessary repairs and parts I have to buy. Just gotta get it apart.
