456 gear with 29.5 slicks!

it has street tires on it now i have never had slicks on it just got the car together we run 1/8 mile mostly with the street tires it ran 8.39 with a 193 60 ft time with a 3.55 gear at 88 mph im trying to get the car in the 7s do you think it is possible with the gear and slicks people was telling me that i needed to go to a smaller tire like a 28 in slick
