What motor to go with?

I know lots of guys racing 904s but they are puting tons of money in them to make them hold up. Why bother wasting money to tuffen up a 904 if he is going to already have a 727. Spend the money on your motor. I can smoke a stock 904 in my Duster in about 20 min. Got sick of laying under the car. If 904s are so nice how come they never put them behind a big block? Was wrong on the lower 1st gear. 727s have a 2.45 1st and 904s have a 2.70 1st witch they needed because most 904 cars were extremly high geared 2.94-2.76s

got 3 904s racing...2 currently using trans brakes...one still foot braking...

one trans has been in uses since 1993 with a transbrake and has only been rebuilt once due to ring gear braking and damaging rear sprag...in 69 Barracuda..

2nd trans has been in use for 5 season with transbrake in my daughter 71 Dart...

take a look at the times in the signature below..and they have dates that those were run...

'tons of money"......all three trans are using stock internal parts except alto clutches and kolene disc...only special part it the 24 spring kit for the front drum...which is a one time purchase of 100 bucks...

since the front drum on a 904 does not explode like a 727...which will cost 500 bucks to replace...it seems to me that the 727 needs the tons of money and beefing ....anyone rebuilting a 727 should use the alto disc and kolene steels since they add a staggering 40 dollars to a rebuild which is the same cost to a 904

And I use a truly highly professional transmission shop... ...me and my 200 dollars worth of transmission tools bought about 6 yrs ago..which is the first time i rebuild a trans...727 in my 73 340 Duster...

the 727 came from the factory with only one gear set...the 904/998/999 comes with an additional gear set of 2.74/1.55...which i have in my 71 demon ......the transbrake for this car should be sitting at home in Vegas...but i am currently working out of town....
