1969 Wiper switch & electrical question
Yesterday I went to test some electrical goodies on my dash as the car gets put back together. I turned on the wipers and they went down towards the engine instead of up on the windshield! Looks like the paint guy installed them 180~ off. So I pulled the arms and hooked up the battery, turned the wiper switch on and I watched the posts (where the wiper arms press on, move about 1/4 turn. I was hoping to get them (the posts) put back in the "park" position so that I can put the arms on correctly. Here's the problem, I turned the wiper switch off, and then back on again to double check the positioning but it will not work anymore, nothing moves? Does the switch have to be mounted in the dash in order to get a good "ground" ? Also (see pic attached) I noticed that one terminal on the back of the wiper switch does not have a wire lead to it, is this ok? If not, what goes here? and lastly....the wiper swich got warm near that bare terminal and the switch also makes a slight "click" noise about every 8-10 seconds. Even with the switch turned off (obviously when battery hooked up and key is still on the power). Im thinking this switch just needs a good ground to work?
