Converter might be a bit too much but don't think its hurting et. The 727 trans takes more power away from the wheels than the 904--expect 727 trans are bulletproof.

Is that an Eddy carb, if so a holley 750 dp will drop it a few tenths. With that loose of converter you might be able to just remove the secondary air door on the eddy carb. For sure the weights can be lighten up so the secondaries kick in sooner. Try lightening the weights and maybe even remove it all together and then see if it don't bog. The accel pump shot can be lengthen to help stop a lean bog.

Those eddies are good carbs, I use two 500 cfm on my 340, with mods it kicks hard, like a good old double pumper carb
