I agree completely . I cannot stand seeing those ugly *** new(er) Ca plates on an old(er) vehicle !!
Black/yellow = 1963-1969
Blue/yellow = 1970-1986
Personalised plates were intro'ed in 1970
I've seen early-build , early-sell 1970 cars with '69-issue plates on them , and have also seen held-over '69 cars with 1970-issue plates on them
( there's a '69 Camaro in town here with blue/yellows , as it was sold new in 1970 ) .
