Front end bushings and disk brakes
Thanks Bill,
The brakes did'nt quite look like that straight from the junk yard when I pulled them. I think I paid $34.99 for each side, complete assembly. The mechanic who helped me put everything together did a real nice job, media blasting the parts, painting them and installing the new bushings. I'm in the Denver area and we have a few yards that still have some good parts cars. This one though has an interesting story behind it. I was combing over Craigslist a few years ago trying to find the correct back seat for my car. When I bought it, it had a dodge dart back seat. Anyway,
I got the correct back seat from this guy who explained he had lost interest in the car he was working on and the back seat was all that was left.
It was actually a 1971 Duster like mine!
I asked where the car was and he said he sold it to the junk yard. :wack:
This particlular one is a pick-a-part type and they do not keep an inventory. Whats cool is you never know what you are gong to find. What sucks is that after the cars sit there for a few months they go to the crusher. It's a high volume outfit. I went to the yard and found out the car was still in the holding area, not yet processed. I called and stopped by the yard everyday to try to silver toung information from the owner. My persistance paid off and I learned when the car would be sent out to be parted. I took time off from work and got there at 4:30am to be sure that I was the first in line. Sure enough, I was and there were several other guys that showed up after me to wait for other cars.
The car ended up to be a bonanza! I not only got the disk brakes, I got the front fendors (1970-71 specific), seat belts, and a bunch of other stuff.
This car is a BLAST to drive! I can't wait till it's finished...
Since the front end work was completed, the stance of the car is just where I like it with a slight rake.
Rock On! :burnout:
