formulas for f8 color

I am painting a 69 gts for a friend. code f8. went to ppg shop to have a gallon mixed. they only had a formula for omni, and I wanted dbc base. so they called ppg library, which gave them a color that was actually same as a 71 or so ford color. well it was not right and that started 4 days of trying to match color. thr prophet was no good ,tried it at 2 different stores with 2 different cameras. mixed about 15 different colors from the book, and all were off...
so, to make a longer story less long....I think I have it figured out...(after talking to a dupont painter whos been painting for 40 years).
apparently there are about 8 variations of f8. because 40 years ago. dodge didnt match their batches too well, and greens are the hardest to match..
It looks like they go from brown toned green, to olive green, to a greener green, and all have an underlying gold tone.
the problem is in the metallic. the originals were a fine metalic, and the new omni and ford crossover color contain sparkle or course aluminum. (real pretty, but gives it too much of a gold flop in the sun.

so, I would suggest if your car is brown toned or olive toned. use the omni or ford color but have them replace the sparkle aluminum with fine..they can mix it in 2 oz. batches to do spray outs.

IF your car is greener with gold tone. try this formula..it took me 4 days to get it right,so hope it helps...it is slightly brighter than original. it look like new paint that hasnt faded any. this gts was onwned by same guy ince 1970 and had plenty of original paint to match.

this is ppg dbc base. makes 1 gallon.
