Unported head quickness?

I guess I should add mine. I'll go back to the last ride, the '74 Duster. While a swap of engines requires a few more bucks with engine mounts and a radiator upgrade, a shortened driveshaft and rear size to go up one for any serious performance usage......
Many still came stock with a 318. So if you have a 318 Duster and wonder what you can do for a pick me up in performance, try this one out.

A bone stock used '79 - 318 was the base. Bolt on parts were;

A 600 cfm carb
Edelbrock LD4B (Dual plane discontinued long ago)
Hooker headers into a Jegs 2-1/2 exhaust

I added a new timing chain to the cam, springs and lifters. It was a Crane Cams grind @ 272-284 (@ 050 - 216-228) w/.454-.480 lift on a 112 c-line.
The 318 heads were just cleaned up at home. Running the stock 1.78 - 1.50 valves.

I used an electric fan
The car was (Upgraded to a ) 8-1/4 with a 3.23 sure grip equipped gear set on stock size tires stock replacement shocks on ESPO 1 inch over bend springs.

This combo, untuned at ATCO ran a 15.14 on a cold Nov. day. @ 89 mph with some tire spin. A bit of tuning, yours should run into the 14's no problem.
