Proform makes nice billet base plates that will fix the problem for under a $100. I put one of those on my Vac Sec carb to fix the same problem and it's a really nice piece.
i agree they make a nice base plate.. have a few friends running their base plate and meetering blocks.. i'm running of their 750 dp carbs... nice stuff..
