need advice on how to install headliner in my 1965 barracuda. any shortcuts or tips would be helpfull. shop wants $400.00 to install my supplied headliner. too rich for my blood at this time. figured I would take A shot. Thanks, Ed:prayer:

My friend came and installed mine in my 66 Dart.He brought his steamer and it took him a good 4-5 hours to install right.Maybe shop around for a better price.Good luck.

Go online. I know they have a how to for the 67 -69. Type in 65 Dart head liner instillation and see what you come up with. I'm going to do my 68, I figure as cheap as head liners are ,I can screw a couple up before I hit 400 bucks.

Installing the umbrella type headliner is about the same process for any vehicle. Plenty of info online. Most tutorials will make it sound easier than it is.
All I can add is, With all the interior removed, lay hubcaps over those clips that hold the rear seat to the floor and cover those and all of the floor with a couple layers of old blankets. Sore and/or bloody knees doesn't make the chore any easier.

There was a write-up on this in either Mopar Muscle or Mopar Action not too long ago. Check their tech articles on their websites.

I have a 65 cuda myself and the reason it is soooo expensive is to do it right you must remove front and rear glass because the headliner goes under the gasket. Try to find another 65 cuda and look inside you will see what I meen. I also have a 63 valiant I am building and the same goes for it. Sorry for the bad news!!

The 65 isn't very different from any other with the umbrella type headliner. With the right hand tools the headliner can be installed without removing the windscreens. Debtal or surgical tools

I replaced mine last winter in my 65 Barracuda. You need a heat gun to stretch the headliner and work the wrinkles out. Also, you need clamps to hold the headliner in place while you are working the wrinkles out.Get the metal clamps, not the plastic ones, they are worthless. You will need about a dozen or so. I got mine on sale at Menards for about a $1 apiece. I had the front and back windows removed and replaced by a local glass co. Cost $125. Take your time! I ruined the first one when I prematurely cut the holes for the dome lights. I was also quoted $400 to do this. After doing this, I can understand the cost,, it is time consuming. After buying the clamps and the heat gun, this project cost me about $250.

this thread makes me glad they switched to a one piece cardboard headliner for my 73 Duster. I just did mine as well. My wife covered it with a nice material and I was able to put it in with my sons help in about 15 minutes.
