Ok I have a 74 Dart Sport that I have been trying to sell for well over a year now. I paid $2500 for it 10 years ago and have put $3500 in parts I have put into as it sits now. That is just counting the big ticket stuff I though worthy of saving receipts for. I know this economy sucks but is $4000 unrealistic price for what I got in these days? Its a California car and I am here in Wisconsin so by midwest standards its about as perfect as you get for a 74 that has never been molested, body wise. Beginning to wonder with what I have into it, what is better to just to wait out this econo or to eat more of the cost of what I have into it. I mean I am definately not trying to make money off of the deal but I don't feel like I should give the dam thing away either. Anyone else dealing with this kind of situation in these times?

This economy is tough there is a member here trying to sell a beautiful survivor and cant get an offer at 5 grand.

I'd sit on it and certainly wait it out. Your asking price is a inexpensive one for the described ride.

If you don't have to sell it (for financial reasons) then sit it on. Eventually the right buyer will come alone for your price or you may decide in a year or two to finish it. I have a car that I have considered selling it at least 8 times over the 15 years I have been working on it... And now its going to Mopar Al's place to get it back to running and driving and then I am going to finish it....

If you want out of it 100% then you are at a cross roads as to how much of a loss can you stomach to just get it out for your site.

In this economy its tough to unload anything... I shipped out some free parts recently and the guy now wants to send it back to get his shipping money back... The whole hobby is nuts at this point... when those parts come back I'm smashing them with a sledge hammer...

~~Sometimes destroying these cars and parts is more fun than the hassle of buying and selling them~~

Put it on Ebay starting at $1. Then sit back and let the bidding frenzy begin. I guarantee if it's a nice clean car, it'll fetch over $4 G's. Make sure the auction ends at about 9:30 PM and preferrably on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Please post some pics or a link to your listing. Thanks

Have any pictures of this car? Could be the car just isn't worth what your asking. Seems like good cars priced reasonably are still selling.

That car is in great shape, and will sell for $4000.00 all day on eBay.
Your CL ad on the other hand, is horrible! LOL
Also, next time you take a picture of the interior, vacuum it out first!

Good Luck!

also, with people paying more attention to their wallets, they are trying to pick up the cars they know they can get most of their money back out of if they had to sell. like the 340 cars. your car is a nice driver, but the year, and being a dart sport kill most in ths rough seas we live in

I looked at a lot of cars inthe area (IL, WI & MI) in the months before buying my Duster, and I will tell you, $4,000 doesn't get you much. Most of them had major rust (especially the floors and frames) and/or needed drivetrain work. $4,000 for your beautiful ride is a steal....I'd have given a nut to stumble on a ride like that during my search. Also, keep in mind the Holiday Season may not be the best time to sell. Hang in there and good luck with thesale.

If i was not just finishing up my 72 duster i would snap that up its very clean do as owdkasd suggested that will sell for sure .good luck

Looks decent in the pics. Some better inter pics would help . 4000 doesn't sound too bad for it but I haven't seen it in person either.

Actually that pic with the leafs on the floor was a quickie taken with my cell phone. For what ever reason the only pics I had of the front Dash area were before I put the B&M shifter in. So some pics showed the shifter and some didn't so I had make a quick pic that wasn't so confusing.

Tim, nice talking to you about the dart. I wish I could swing it, you have my offer..Shipping is a killer...Wish you were closer.. Have a nice Thanksgiving..

Sometimes when I talk to guys on the phone who call me about it. Seems like this is a big issue sometimes. People get thinking all Barret Jackson and making money and forget that is all rich guy fantasy crap. To me 340's don't do anything for me you can build a 360 better for cheapper. But that is how I thought when I bought this car 10 years ago, I was thinking more performance/ good looking and having a fun car. I wasn't thinking about how to get max "Bennies" later on. I guess everyone gets into this for different reasons.

if you dont need to sell, like everyone is saying, sit on it. it will only increase in value despite the economy. i think 4 grand is not too much to ask.it looks like a great driver and it is complete ,running and driving. there is a rotted out , beat up slant 6 74 dart sport here in CO that they are trying to get 2500 for that doesnt even run and has been in a field sitting for 20 years! now that is unreasonable.dont jump on any lowball offers and stay firm at 4000, it is worth that.
