A-bodies at F.A.S.T.

just wondering but why is that the best? this sounds like a really fun class to run in!8)

Its just my opinion really. You have to look at each car and decide which have an advantage. I figure most 67-72 A bodies weigh about the same. If you look at the differences in the 340 of those years,
They all have the same cam,

Heads are pretty much the same except valve size, but you can make any mods to the heads as long as you have the correct casting numbers,

Compression is lower on 71 and 72 but you can change that as much as you want,

68, 69 and 70 all use the small AVS, You must retain it to be legal

71-74 all use the big Thermoquad (thats what I feel is the advantage)

68-70? Use the Good exhaust manifolds maybe 71 also ?

I dont think the good exhaust manifolds are as much of an advantage as the good Thermoquad/intake combo.

The faster you want to go the more important it is to pick the right car I think. It shouldnt be to hard to get any 340/360 A body in to the 13 or 12s and look and sound stock.

Remember if you build a 67 or earlier Barracuda, Dart or Valiant with a 273 you can replace it wih a 340 or 360 or even build a stroker but you have to feed it with a stock 273 intake and carb and run the factory exuast.
