I have a 75' Dart Swinger w/ the origional 318 2-barrel. My issue is that about once a month while i'm driving for a few hours and come to a stop light or slow down for a car that is turning, the engine begins to stumble then shuts off.It will start right back up and when i put it in drive and start to take off it stumbles really bad and then eventually it will go away. It has the factory elec. dist. new ecu box, new voltage reg, initial timing is a 10 deg. The fuel filter shows no sign of rust or any thing else. Not sure of the fuel pressure. It has AC Delco plugs that are gapped at .035in. Also to note it does fine from my house to work which is 15 min. away.
Any suggestions?

I already cheaked for a vacumm leak and am positive that is not it. I will check out my float level and go from there.

Do you mean replace the carb? Also checked something today. It started acting up again so I pulled over and poped the hood and looked inside my fuel filter(see through filter) with the engine running and noticed that there was barely any fuel in it. What would you say about that? Vapor lock maybe?

Could be the float/needle seat in the carb is messed up.

Could be vapor lock. When cold and you start the motor is the filter full of gas, (assume you have a clear bodied filter) ? If so then maybe vapor lock is the problem. Based on the comment that your filter was nearly empty when it stalls. Either that or the pickup sock in the tank is plugged with rust or other nasties.

Found out that my timing was way off and the vacuum advanced was hooked up to manifold vacuum instead of timed. Problem solved and thanks for all the help guys.
