Old Car Smell

Anybody ever put a Catilic Converter on their old Mopars? Wondering if it would get rid of the nasty old car exaust smell. Wondering how much performance you would lose. I come across used catilic converters all the time when I strip my destruction derby cars, usuasilly I just recycle them but maybe I will weld in a pair and see what happens. Just wondered if anyone had tried it before.
