6-PACK Install

OK I will be doing the swap from my 4BBL to the 6-Pack on my 340 Dart..........anything I should know that might save me some time and effort? I want to know all the little tricks to make this as smooth as possible.........and thanks in advance!

OK, we'll start with the obvious. Do you have a COMPLETE install kit? Fuel lines..coil bracket...throttle cable mount.... intake manifold gaskets? Is it a new set-up, such as the packages sold by Glendora or Mancini's? If not, be prepared for some re-building. And get ready for some never-ending adjusting and fiddling.

I just bought the ProMax center carb metering block and the end carb metering plates that accept replaceable jets, along with the billet rear carb base so you can adjust the idle without pulling off the center carb. I haven't installed these pieces yet, but they come highly recommended as a cure for the ever-present stumble and flat spot factory 6 bbl's are born with. As for adjusting, I recommended removing the plugs on the end carb base plates and crank out the idle screws about a 1/2 a turn (bet you didn't know they were adjustable, did ya? ) and this will improve idle quality. As for jetting and power valves, go with the stock pieces and see where your at.

And finally here's links for tips:

Before I pulled my car off the road I had the carbs kind'a dialed in and wow...when those end carbs open up you better be pointed where you want to end up! I can't wait until I have the new combo together.

Good luck with your swap. Aside from the basic skills needed to pull the manifold (drain coolant, mark plug wires & vacumn hoses, CLEAN all mating surfaces for gaskets, etc...) it's a straight forward job that can be knocked out in an afternoon. And let's not forget the WOW-factor when you pop the hood...8)
