Scampin!!!!!!

Nice to see the Scamp is still progressing Joe.. real life has a tendency to interfere with hobbies.

A few pages back someone asked about the #741 casting center section... a short story here...

WARNING! PRODUCT ENDORSEMENT!!

Way back in the early 80's I had a 73 Dart Sport 340 and blew up the 8 1/4, so a 8 3/4 was found. The 3.91 geared pig, a 741 casting with the Dana Powerlok, came out of a 60- something A100 van. So it had been in there for at least 18 years when I got it.
It was in the Dart for years.. then my 76 Volare.. and my 77 Aspen R/T... a 70 4 speed Camaro with an 8.75 tranplant..usually launched at 6 grand plus... a 79 Firebird with the same deal... and now it's in my 69 Valiant. It was never treated lightly... it still works like it always did, the harder you hit it the harder it locks. Never been rebuilt either.
A buddy had the same deal in a 70 Charger with a tunnel rammed 440 and a 4 speed with slicks, and as far as I know his never broke either.
Mine is going to get a rebuild eventually, since the yoke came loose and I want to be safe. But don't believe the Mopar rags that say the 741 should be avoided, unless you have a ton of HP and a car that hooks really well.
I always check old Dodge trucks and vans for these in junkyards, they usually wind up behind /6 auto and 3 speed vehicles. Dodge used to make it easy to find, they used riveted tags with all the gear ratio info stamped right into them.
If that's not a product endorsement then I don't know what is!
