you only need from the firwall to the end of the transmission, considering the dakota's have quite a long transmission hump I can't see why it wouldn't fit, and even if its short thats okay because thats what fab skills are for:D
on a side note one may try a later model crown victoria, I know there Ferd but they have quite large AOD transmissions and the hump has to accomidate it, and they can be found it most salvage yards (considering there ferd:D )
