5.7 hemi build--first step completed
I've heard/read in many posts that the 5.7 block has thicker cylinder walls than the 6.1 and thus can be bored greater than the 6.1 block. As a matter of fact according to the Chrysler Factory Service manual neither the 5.7 or 6.1 is rebuildable. That being said common wisdom is that the 6.1 is limited to AT MOST .020 overbore, while the 5.7 will handle between .040 and .080 depending upon the block.
So here's my question: Did you sonic test your block and if so how thick were the cylinder walls after the .040 bore?
