Smoke from Drivers Side Tail Pipe Question
Blue smoke can be caused by bad/worn rings, leaking intake gaskets that allow it to suck oil in from the lifter valley, or possibly very bad worn valve guides. The popping may just be a fouled spark plug on the offending cylinder(s). How much to repair. Sorry but it's absolutely impossible to guess that just from a description on an internet board and the fact that labor rates are different in different cities. It has to be checked out by a qualified mechanic to see what the problem actually is before an estimate could even be close. You can probably tell what cylinder is the problem by just taking out the spark plugs and inspecting them. The bad cylinder(s) will have the plug(s) oiled up.
