valve to piston clearance help

Hello I have a 1975 360 .030 over stock type replacement pistons heads were shaved .040 comp xe274h cam dropped this into a 74 scamp had a rod knock about 10 minutes after starting it(last time I buy a used motor) but no top end noise and all looked good on disassembly .I have since had the bottom end rebuilt, pistons were good so just new bearings and rings had another set of heads(596's) gone over and shaved .040 was putting it together today and found that the intake valves are hitting,does this sound right cam only has 488 int and 491 exh lift.My thought is that the shop my have shaved to much off the head I will check tomorrow battery in the calipers died.From what I have read this combo should work I see people running bigger cam on stock bottom ends with shaved heads or am I wrong.
