I just put some 295/45/ZR18s on my cuda. Those suckers are squeezed in there. From my previous wheel purchase, it is better to have a little too much backspacing than not enough. The lower number of backspacing you go, the further twords the 1/4 panel they go. The higher, the deeper. Here is what i would do...

I put 275/60/15s on my 74 duster for kicks. Used my cuda rims that had 3.75" backspacing. the rims were 15x8 with stock leaf springs. I would say they 'fit' if you ran some super stock springs. or else the lips on the 1/4s would need to be rolled just a hair so no interference.

If i were given that information, since cars vary from one another, and i wanted 17"wheels. I would go with a 17x8, 4" backspacing, a 275/50/17 tire on the back (comes out to the same as a 275/60/15). And then more than likely might need, 1/4" or 7/16" spacer and mayyyybe the lips of the 1/4 panel rolled some.

I am a big fan of big wheels on our cars. However, my personal pet peeve with them, is you have nice fancy 17" wheels...with tires that are about 25" tall. That end up looking teeny in the wheel wells. On my car, i went with the most i could get. 295 is a pretty good tire on stock wells for a ebody. Its tall and wide, fills up the wells nicely. You can use that program to help give you a rough idea with the tires you already have on there. Plug those in there, and start playing with 17s and see how much wider/taller you can go..
