I FOUND SOME 1961 - 1962 413 HEADS. ARE ALL BB HEADS THE SAME ? WILL 413 HEADS WORK WELL ON MY 72 440? I CAN'T FIND ANY INFO THAT ANSWERS MY QUESTION DIRECTLY. ANY HELP?????????????:burnout:

They should be either a "516" casting, or an earlier version thereof. If they are stock, they will have a smaller exhaust valve than your '72 heads, 1.60" Vs. 1.74". Stock flow on the older heads is worse than the '72 castings. The early heads are a closed chamber design, and will gain you a little compression. All in all, unless you do some work to the early heads, you are better off with what you have on your '72.

They should have bolt on rocker stands and 4 bolt covers. I'd pass on them unless you can look at the numbers and see if they happen to be 413 Max Wedge heads. And those I'd only look to re-sell...lol.

I'll add I think the 6 bolt covers do bolt on, but there's no holes for the outer two bolts on the bottom.

I would pass too.... The exh valves are smaller "unless someone had work done to them" as someone already mentioned. Additionaly, I would pass on just about ANY cast iron head if I were in the market to buy a set of heads! The price to re-valve, clean magnaflux, valve job itself, labor rates, etc etc I would just get a set of assembled aluminum heads. They will most likely perform better out of the box than a warmed over set of cast iron heads anyhow!
Just my 2 cents.

After further research... I found that if i needed a mopar boat anchor these would be the trick. They were only 20 bucks . I thought i might get them to practice porting. The inticing part was the 2.08 intake . Yeah they are the 4 bolt cover type. Back to the ed. Victor idea.

You probably have casting 2206324 and not 342,this is a 61-62 casting only and has 2.08 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves, mrmopartech
YOU'RE RIGHT . I FOUND THAT OUT ALSO. THESE WERE THE NUMBERS THE KID GAVE ME. I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR FEED BACK.:glasses7:
