Project- Bills Buggy
The day has finally arrived... Time for color.. lol.. Well in the jams at least..After weeks upon weeks of seemingly endless sanding, and work, we finally got a good break in the weather, and it was time to jam the buggy.. Of course the weekend wasnt without incident.. The first thing was digging out the paint.. I bought the paint 4 years ago for the Dart.. A quart of single stage for all the jams and 2 quarts of base coat.. for the bodys base/clear paint job.. No clue why I never noticed til, now, but the single stage clearly said, 'Chrysler B5 blue, bright blue poly'.... however the 2 quarts of base, just said, 'bright blue metallic'... hmmm.. so we decided even though the car isnt getting painted for another 2 weeks, we would open them both and just be sure all was well... it wasnt! The base was totally the wrong shade of blue..
I was crushed, its not like I have a lot of extra cash lying around to buy something again that I have already paid for... but.. I no longer could find the original reciept and just didnt feel the store where I got the paint would honor it all these years later... so with the wife's blessing I had another 2 quarts of base done up, (and yes it matches now LOL) ...
So we got my baby jammed.. It was soooo wonderful and uplifting to see color finally going on the car. Makes all the work worth it.. So, enjoy the car ****.. Oh.. there was another issue... we final primed the newly finished passenger side fender.. it looked great, til something caught my eye while Bruce was jamming the fenders.. you can see where one of the patches is on the top of the fender.. we're not sure yet if this is something that can be made better, or if its something im just going to have to live with.. if it is, I am ok with that.. sometimes thats just the way it goes.. but we will try to come up with a game plan for it this week... All I know is I am a pretty happy guy today...
