Firmer 1-2 shift?
Oh yeah, they can be higher. If you have a slotted lever for kick-down(keep this geometry in mind); Pull it back to wot, adjust the rod to close/no gap, but keep the throttle to be able to go all the way back. Test. Shift point at wot go up, but at partial throttle, will chirp 2nd. At wot, it probably won't hit third until 90 mph.
Trade-offs. Then once throttle still can wot; get under, push to wot, loosen at trans, see if lever can go back more. Then start playing with those adjustments, to get what you want.
Just put a Bouchillian? sp cable on a 69 440 Charger; one tug, and it shifts at 15 mph into 2nd, 3rd at 35. Stand on it=2nd @ 45, 3rd @ 85mph.
Just takes reading and learning about the line pressure; buy John Copes old Larry Shepard book( old mopar tricks.)
