Has anyone run a full manual 904 on a daily driver? I don't mind shifting all the time. Pros or cons beside the shifting constantly? Also I only drive about a mile round trip each day to my job.

I have a reverse mvb in my dart.It is low band apply so it has braking in 1st gear.I drive back and forth to work a few times a year and enjoy,Kevin.

A mile round trip? Thing's not even going to be warmed up.

I dig it. You need to pay attention but otherwise it's cool.

Sticking it in drive and putting around is like driving around in a couch. No effort.

I say do it. Increase the fun factor. I want to add it to my 727 but not sure with a column shifter.

ratchet shifters suck on full manuals..having to hit it down twice to get into first at a light is cumbersome. especially if the guy next to you pulls a suprise hole shot on you and you need to get into low fast. I remember my old cheap Z-gate....

I'm a "stick" man from way way back, 'specially in the winter, when you can "lug" a stick around in 2nd gear for better control. But I reluctantly decided to "go TF" because of my Arthritis, I simply cannot row a 4 speed or pedal a big heavy clutch anymore.

So for now, I have a (bought used) Turbo Action Cheetah, which DOES NOT HAVE low band apply. When I get time, I'm going to try a "do it yourself" manual kit in another body.

This one isn't quite right, but THIS IS THE DEAL for me. I LOVE being able to control shifts WHEN I want. With 3.89's (Ford) in the rear, I can "idle around" in traffic in 2nd gear. Hell, it'll even go from a stop in 3rd.

I'll never go back

I have ran a T/A RMVB in my 73 chally and a couple 69 darts. All were my daily drivers. I have no negatives to say about it. I ran the stock shifter it just takes a little getting used to. I did not have first apply either never had any problems with them.

Seems to be a love it or hate item. Personally I have always liked manual VB's. Specifically, the control of the shifts, ability to start in 2nd (or 3rd) in wet conditions. VERY solid shifts with no lag. Have a reverse manual VB on my Duster and love it.

I got my Pro Race Cope 727 with RMVB about 6 months ago.

At first I didn't like it - kept forgetting about the reverse pattern ...(Doh!) ..but I got used to it and see the benefits now....especially the 2nd gear take off on wet roads.

Main advice - the ratios are different to a 3 speed manual - so don't try shifting from 2 to 1 at 25 mph....or you'll rip the sprag out the back of the box in a 904.

..........I have built quite a few forward pattern valve bodies for street or race with the Trans Go -3 manual kit........for the street i recommend using the kick down linkage/cable set up so that ur not having full throttle pressure all the time......kim.....

I had one in my 65 Valiant. Drove it over two years on the street. I loved it.

That's what I ran in my last 2 Darts, and what I'll be running in my current /6 project !!

I am thinking about using the Turbo action Cheetah floor shifter. The only mvb that I've seen for the 904 is made by Turbo action Cheetah...are there any others out there? Anybody used the B&M pro stick or Hurst Quarter stick?

So far I've seen no reason to not do it from your comments! I do drive more than just work, but mostly joyriding since my daily commute isnt very far! lol

I ran one in my 68 when it was a daily driver and loved it. I also kept it on the colum which made for a great sleeper look. Always took people buy surprise when you broke the tires loose hitting secong while shifting from the colum.

I love my RMVB. One other nice feature is that it has no engine braking in third gear so it saves a little gas because you are technically coasting in neutral.

I got it on mine with a column shift, 3rd gear is where 1st gear used to be, its great, screaming in 2nd gear you just shift down till it stops, can pay 100% whats happening on the road.

Its a Cheetah--no low band and no problems in 10 years. Now I never punch it in 1st gear unless the car is pointed straight and its stop or just about stop and I don't slam my right foot down but ease in to the gas.

I found with 3.91 gears you don't need 1st gear unless the car is about stop, going fast around a turn, 2nd gear works great

Anybody used the B&M pro stick or Hurst Quarter stick?

Used both and like the shifters. Good pieces and never had any issues with either. If you are handy you can make them have rear exit cables.
