timimg issue

Can anyone tell me where to set the timing on my 440. I have been setting it by ear because the timing tab was gone when we built it and I just now put a new timing tab on it. It is a 440 .030. I have a 3000 stall in it.I am running a 509/292 purple cam and an Accel dist.I was told 34-36* was close but I dont know if that is correct. I have no books on this. I dont know what else needed to know but I would like to get it set right. Thanks
