Power steering hose with internal fitting

Here's the way we did this 30 years ago. Either do one of two things

1 Inspect the ends on your hose and determine that the metal line/ end fittings are still useable.

A. Cut off the metal tube, and silver-braze any common fitting (JIC/ SAE, etc) onto the end, then have a common ordinary hydraulic hose made at a hose shop to fit between

in other words, saw off a fitting like this, say, no6 or no8 JIC (AN)

And then have a hose made with mating fittings:

B. Weatherhead, and others, makes a certain amount of special fittings JUST FOR this problem. IE GM used to commonly use a 3/8 tube with a "7/16" nut, non standard. Weatherhead made special hydraulic hose ends for this

THEY ALSO make hose ends which have a steel, heavy duty COMPRESSION fitting, so all you need to do is cut off your existing tubes, make up a hose the proper length, and insert and tighten the existing tubes into the new ends

Here's one type with a 3/8" compression end

Here's one similar to what fits the popular "double braid" hydraulic hose, again, with a 3/8" compression

This is not the correct fitting, but they make all sorts of specialty ones, so again, you need to find a good hose shop
