On a chevy the rod to bore stoke ratios are not the same as a 318, I think they are faster, so they use a little more cam in terms of duration. But you need to keep in mind that more overlap is less low end power IE torque. If you can raise the compression to compensate you are O kthough to a point. Also I would go as said above with a dual split profile type.
Always better to under cam than over if given a choice...
