Is this compressor good enough???
Lets put it this way.I have a 60 gallon porter cable with twin cylinders. It's a single stage. The most important thing is air volume or cfm.Second is tank sizeYour compressor may put out good volume but if the tank is draining constantly because it's too small, you will overheat and burn out the motor or cynlinder head or both in short order.Ideally you want about 50% cycle duty,so the motor of the compressor is running no more than half the time you are using air.You can get away with the compressor running more than that if it's not for extended periods of time.Helps a lot if the compressor has abundant air circulation to cool it off as well.My shop is tiny so it tends to get VERY hot in summer.I resolved this by installing a large bathroom cieling fan over the compressor. Also had to cut run time down to allow for cooling, but thats another novel....
