I have a 68 318 with a comp cam xe262. my heads are shaved 20 thous. and i might have my block square decked.

Will i need new push rods or will the stock ones work?

When I decked and shaved my 318 I went to ace hardware and bought .030 brass shim stocc and cut squares the size of the pedestals and drilled 1/2 in holes in the center for the bolts and the ends to oil and this corrected me back to factory geometry.Bes thing is it cost about 2 bucks. the brass conforms nicely to the shaft and the pedestal and compensates for what the machinist takes off. You can getb this brass shim in different thicknesses depending on what was removed.:read2:

We have a Checking kit that contains 2 solid lifters and 2 adjustable push rods.
You set it up and lock down the push rods at the correct length, send them to Smith Brothers and they turn around correct set of push rods in 24 hours and ship them direct to you.

The checking kit is shipped back to me for the next customer.

$50 deposit refunded as soon as Smith Bros. calls me for a PO.

That's how it's done.

Here's a great contact for that info;
Pierre [PierreC@pushrods.net]
He's at Smith Bros Pushrods in Bend, OR. He's also a fellow A-Body owner and bracket racer.

The pushrod length cheker is a smart idea. Normally, if you know for sure the amount lessened by machine work, you can deduct that amount from the new pushrod length and be fine.

Best to check though.
