Battery Charger
I have a lightweight 50 amp alternator because the rules require one. But it won't keep the battery fully charged, especially with cooling off the engine with the electric water pump and fan. I use an automatic taper-charge charger set at 10 amps between rounds as well to keep it topped off. An alternator is a good idea regardless.
Do not use "manual" battery chargers because they can cook your battery if left on too long. May not be as much of an issue at the races between fast paced rounds, but at least you can set-and-forget with the automatic versions anytime because it tapers down the charge rate, then maintains it by cycling.
