Duster Rear Window Louvers
I just caught up with this thread.. R & D along with mold making for mass quatities of materials (louvers) are what is so costly. Typical injection mold making (forming the mold to exact specs to extrude the perfect piece time after time) is generally in the 8 to 10K price range just for start up. That doesn't include the formulation of the plastic, poly, ABS, or whatever type of material used. I know this because of some of the products my company makes have to have new molds made for new improved products. So that being said, fiberglass would be the next alternative in my humble opinion. If some one can make the molds out of rubber or a hardened material for a large volume run of pieces, the overall cost would be less to the maker would be minimal. Even if he/she had to run 1 set at a time to fill orders. Just my thoughts....
