I was wondering the biggest tire I could fit on the front of my Swinger with out rubbing?
Please put Wheel and Tire size and backspace.
Thanks Emilio

My son's '68 Dart is currently running 16x7s in front with 4 inch bs. The tires are 205/50-16s. So far they haven't hit the fender but they're close 'cause the front end is lowered a bit (5-1/2 inches under the k-member). We'll probably change to 17x7s with 4.75 bs in the future and go to 225/45-17 tires since we want to upgrade to 13 inch discs and try to drop the front a little more.

I have stock stock ralleys with 225/60-14 in the front and no rubbing on my Duster. But very close though.

I run 245/45/17s up front on my duster w/ 4.5BS. I had to roll the inner fender lip. Otherwise it fits great up front. I'm not sure how much more you can go without cutting.

I'm running 15X7's on both of my 68's.Hard-top has 275-60-15 on the back and 225-70-15 front and on my convertible has 255-60-15's and 205-60-15's.

I'm curious as well. I'm running cop car steel wheels.. pretty sure they're 15x7, no idea what the backspacing is.. but I want to get as much tire under the back of my 71 Swinger as possible without modifications

15x8 205/70s with 4.5 BS
A bit to close to the fender but I have my suspension kinda tight.
225/70 15s on the rear with a 1/4 to spare before the springs. (Same backspace)

I heard that with a 15x7 on the front you can fit up to a 225-60-R15 with a 3.75 inch backspace
And for the rear with a 15x7 with a 4.25 inch backspace you can fit up to a 255-70-R15.
Can anyone say this is true?

I have a 72 dart, run 14x8 rallys on the back with 4.625" Backspace (might as well say 4.5" BS) and a 245-60r14 tire. It is 1/2" away from the leaf spring and 3/4" from the quarter lip. The wheels are the wheel vintiques aftermarket small bolt rallys.

I have discussed Chameleons wheel tire combos with him before. He is running 15 x 7 rallys with the factory 4 1/4" backspace.

Wowsers. You got some serious clearance. Is that a stock hotchkis bar? Or has that one been "bent" by them/you?

This subject has been covered many times so there is much info to be found if you do a search.
I do know from experience that 235/60s with 15/7 cop car wheels on a Duster will require the horizontal flange on the front corner of the front wheel openings trimmed back at an angle and possibly recess the fender flange bolt on it's rear arch. You will also need to turn the wheels to full right and left lock and roll up the fender flange where the tire's tread can come into contact with it because it surely will.

I dont think it will help you but Im running 17x10.5 w/315s in the back and 17x8 w/ 255s on the front, with a mini-tub in the rear.
Andrew
