Help me wrap my head around this.

OK lets start at the end and work back to the beginning. I currently Have 2 lifters that I cant get to pump up.

Not to long ago I did some up grades that involved a new cam and shaved heads. I know a made a rookie mistake and did not get shorter push rods to account for the shaved heads. Using the stock valve train the car actually ran fine.

I recently upgraded to adjustable rockers. I also measured and ordered the correct length rockers. When the oil was cold the engine sounded fine. After the oil warmed up I noticed a slight lifter tick from #8. I removed the valve covers to double check that I had properly set the pre load on all the lifters. Every thing looked good but I decided to loosen the intake on # 2 and re adjust it. Now that lifter will not pump up along with #8.

I am guessing that I probably screwed these lifter up with running them with the extra preload of the stock valve train. I am going to install all new lifters but wanted to make sure i was on the right track before i did this. What else would you guys recommend to check?
