Rob, I didn't say it wasn't "streetable". I said the same power can be had without have the engine work as hard. You know yourself, reliability depends on the stress an engine is under.
Building a 400+ HP 383 or 400 for example, costs less, is not as strenuous on the engine parts, is essentially a stock engine with bolt ons, and is ultra reliable in daily use.
Personally, I ran a 400+ HO 400ci in a 73 dodge van for well over 200,000 miles, with no (zero) repairs to the engine, outside of regular maintenance. sold it to by a 76 dodge B200, and the buyer put another 100K miles on it without a problem. Reliability.
