running rich thread

I looked at four of those links below and wouldn't do anything in two of them and some in the other two.

Get your initial timing sorted out FIRST! This is especially important if it's running very rich at idle.

I don't ever time anything using the total timing method unless it's a locked out distributor. You will need to know what the engine wants for total so you can tailor the mechanical advance.

It takes some work to get the ignition right.

I don't have a question, really, on what I need. Just perusing...and mention of that particular thread cropped up a lot.

I am headed toward a YH distributor recal..just waiting for parts. After way too long of just ignoring it (don't drive it much) I'm finally getting around to resolving an idle-hang problem. That, and knowing that 2ºBTDC initial has never been right...but that's what 'ya get with the YH distributor out-of-the-box with a decent mechanical total.

Don't know why they built the thing so stupid to start with.....but, Hey! They didn't ask me about it! :-|
