PPG may not be the best
for the money meaning it likely is one of the best, but you can get similar results with ppg base and a less expensive high solids clear. I plan to use PPG deltron DBC (solvent based) (pricey , but nice to work with) with
http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com clear coat.(cheaper than equivalent PPG clear, many many good reviews, indicating it is more forgiving than ppg high end clears.
Than all said, at a certain level of higher end products by dupont, ppg, hok etc- the paint job comes down to prep and application/finishing skill.
