Suggestions for muscle car sound muffler without drone

Buck.
A year and a half ago I had to replace the factory exhuast system from the HP manifold flanges to the tail pipes on my 383 Polara. I did not want the irritating loud drone that you can get with the turbo mufflers. The muffler guy (a 73 year old ex-drag racer) had some hemi mufflers installed on the car along with chrome tips that were slightly turned down. He did not recommend an H-pipe. The car has a nice mellow sound at idle or at constant speed and it has a nice roar to it under acceleration. No drone. Oh, I drive the car with the top down so that probably adds to the difference to my ear.

I don't know who made the mufflers but I can try and find out for you if you are interested.

It may be good information for me and others.

Years ago when I had the exhuast system from Accurate Exhaust installed it had their performance three chamber mufflers. They sounded good but had a pretty good drone. When I was buying the system and talked to them about the mufflers they called their performance mullflers hemi mufflers at the time.
