My brother's new Dart Sport - very nice

Most important question. HOW Does She RUN?? I bet you smile for hours after driving it.

Not a powerhouse by any means. Stock bottom end as far as I know with the .474 purple shaft cam, Torker intake, Holley 600 dp, and headers.

Working out some issues right now. PO needed to swap water pump outlet to match the radiator he put in, but didnt change timing cover. Explains why he was telling me he wasnt able to get the motor timed right- he buried the timing tab under the outlet. (He had timing at 45* total) Cant swap covers because the ps pump and March brackets totally block any view of the balancer on that side. I had to find TDC, mark the balancer under the car, and then mark the water pump outlet so I could time it right. Vacuum advance can was pointing in a really weird direction so I pulled the distributor and the intermediate shaft wasn't lined up right. Got that all set, timed at 32* total. It doesn't seem to like the correct timing as it now has a hard time warming up and occasionally spits off idle.

While doing that I noticed that the balancer is scalloped which leads me to believe that either the '70 motor has been swapped to cast internals, or he has put the wrong balancer on. I tend to think he has done the latter as the car feels like it has an odd vibration- very mild. Have not checked out the convertor for weights yet.

The plan now is to rebuild a spare 383 or 440 to swap in the spring.
