glass pack and and muscle car sound

The first thing I did in 1973 when I bought my 69 340 Swinger was to go to the closest Midas muffler shop and had them put on a pair of Big Daddy glass packs. I remember a quiet rumble but when I nailed it, it had a loud crisp sound, especially with the chrome tips. A while later when I put headers on it, I had Walker turbo mufflers put on but with the tail pipes exiting out the sides in front of the back tires. That was loud! I can't stand the loud now....the car now has reproduction mufflers from Accurate. A very nice idle tone but pretty quiet at cruise speeds.
