With the e-coat, primer, light filler, base coats, and the clear coats you end up between 6-15 lbs of weight added...
Supposedly the original German "silver" Auto Union race cars, actually were bare metal as they were overweight for their class, so the paint was sanded off between the qualifiers and the race to lighten the cars down to the minimum weight.
And remember a smooth glossy finish with have less wind resistance than a flat finish.
I would keep the car as is...and crudly up the front wheels, they look just too darn nice!
Paint won't slow you down...but it sure as hell doesn't make you go any faster. It's your car man. A few K in paint won't be near as much fun as a few K in motor work
